1999 until the present day – Resigned from the Israeli State Prosecution and established an Independent Law Firm

In October 1999, Attorney Guy Flanter resigned from the State Attorney’s Office and established an independent law firm that practices Israeli Criminal Law, Israeli Military law and Disciplinary Law (Professional Ethics).

The firm’s uniqueness is expressed in providing legal advice and representation to ordinary citizens without a criminal record, and in principle, refraining from representing “professional” criminals and criminal organizations.

In the framework of its legal practices, the firm deals with Disciplinary and Criminal Proceedings against civil servants (including members of the intelligence community, the security establishment, police and IPS) and against licensed professionals (such as lawyers, doctors, psychologists, pharmacists, social workers), students and employees of the defense industries.

Attorney Guy Flanter has an unconditional authorization to serve as a defense attorney in the Israeli Military Courts.

Attorney Guy Flanter has a rich and proven experience in dealing with complex and sensitive cases that require high security clearance, closing criminal and disciplinary cases in the course of pre-trial hearing proceedings, revoking indictments, acquittal of defendants and termination of criminal proceedings without conviction.

Attorney Guy Flanter lectures on his areas of activity to police officers and prosecutors at the National Police College and to company legal advisers, officers and executives in various Israeli leading corporations.

For 4 years, served as a Criminal Prosecutor in the Israeli State Attorney’s Office

In the mid-1990’s, after completing his internship with some of Israel’s finest white-collar law firms, attorney Guy Flanter joined the ranks of the Israeli State Prosecutor’s Office, where he was employed until the end of 1999 as a Prosecutor in Criminal cases in the Central District Attorney’s Office.

As part of his work in the State Prosecutor’s Office, he accompanied complex police investigations, prepared and filed indictments and represented the State of Israel in numerous and varied criminal proceedings.

As a Prosecutor for the State of Israel, he conducted criminal prosecutions in all the Peace Courts of the Central District, prosecuted “serious crime” cases in the Tel-Aviv District Court and appeared in various Criminal Appeals for the State.

During this period, attorney Guy Flanter was appointed to represent his fellow prosecutors from the Central District Attorney’s Office in the National Organization of Israel Prosecutors. He was also appointed to represent the State Attorney’s Office in a special legal task force that was set up to deal with Property crime and fraud cases.

The beginning of the professional journey as an independent Israeli Criminal Defense Attorney – The Dinitz Trial

Attorney Guy Flanter began his professional journey in a high profile White Collar Criminal case – when asked to join Mr. Simcha Dinitz’s legal defense team, headed by attorney Uri Wagman.

Mr. Dinitz, who served as Chairman of the Jewish Agency and Israeli Ambassador to the United States, was charged in the Jerusalem District Court with fraud and breach of trust.

After a lengthy at complex trial, Mr. Dinitz was finally acquitted of all charges by the Israeli Supreme Court.

Legal Internship for a period of 2 years

In the early 1990s, Israeli Criminal Lawyer Guy Flanter completed his internship with some of Israel’s finest White-Collar law firms (Dan Sheinman and Uri Wegman), taking part in several high profile White-Collar criminal cases.

Legal education – Warwick University School of Law

Attorney Guy Flanter is a graduate (1993) of Warwick University School of Law, England (LLB).

In the course of his legal studies, he excelled in English Law, Commercial law, Litigation Workshop and Evidence Law.

Military and Security Service

Attorney Guy Flanter graduated the Israeli Military Officers Training School with distinction, selected as the finest cadet.

After completing the Israeli Intelligence Officers training course, he served in the Israeli Army, as Captain in the Intelligence Corps.

His last commanding post was Head of the Hostile Terrorist Activity Section, Intelligence Unit at the IDF Central Command.

Immediately after finishing his Military Service, attorney Guy Flanter served in the Israeli Security Agency (ISA, also known as “Shabak”), where he dealt with Intelligence and Anti-Terrorism.

Personal background

Attorney Guy Flanter comes from a South African and German background. He was born in Israel in 1965, raised and educated in Israel & the U.S., and is fluent in both Hebrew & English languages.

His father was one of the first children born in Kibbutz Beit Zera in the Jordan Valley and served in the Palmach, while his mother immigrated to Israel from South Africa.

He completed his high school studies at the Boyar School in Jerusalem and in his youth played basketball in Hapoel Jerusalem.

Guy is married to Irit and has 4 children.

As part of our legal services, our law office submits requests for access to data and information in INTERPOL’S files about Israeli citizens and requests for correction or deletion of data about Israeli citizens in INTERPOL’S files.

INTERPOL – Who they are and what they do

Interpol is the world’s largest international police organization with 192 member states. Its role is to serve as a platform for international cooperation between the police authorities of the member states of the organization and for realizing the organization’s vision of “creating a safer world”.
In essence, it is a police intelligence organization that collects and processes international criminal intelligence for use by the police authorities in the member states of the organization.
The official name of the organization is “ICPO-INTERPOL”.
“ICPO” is an abbreviation of the International Criminal Police Organization, that is, the International Criminal Police Organization.
The name Interpol is short for International Police and was chosen in 1946 as the abbreviation for the name of the organization.

The Commission for the Control of Interpol’s Files

The Commission for the Control of Interpol’s Files (CCF) is an independent body responsible for processing personal data at Interpol.
Among other things, this committee is responsible for handling applications for access, correction and / or deletion of data in Interpol’s information system.
By law, any person or entity, referred to as “Applicant”, has the right to file an application with the Commission to:
- Access data in Interpol files;
- Correct and / or delete data in Interpol files.
The CCF decides on petitions filed by suspects seeking the revocation of “red notices” issued in their name and their inclusion in the international “Wanted persons” list for arrest and extradition.

Request for information from Interpol | Request to correct or delete inclusion in Interpol files

The applicant must meet the threshold conditions set by Interpol for submission of the application.
The application may be submitted by an attorney, who must hold an appropriate power of attorney.
The application must be submitted in one of the following languages: English, Arabic, French or Spanish.
After meeting various threshold conditions, the applicant must specify in his application (inter alia) the following:
- The purpose of the application: Access to Interpol databases, request to correct or delete date or to review date included in Interpol’s databases.
- Details about the applicant.
- A specific power of attorney for the attorney representing the application.
- The facts underlying the request.
- Documents supporting the request.

An example of a case handled by our law firm – obtaining an official statment from Interpol stating that our Israeli client is not included in Interpol’s database

An Israeli citizen who had been in trouble outside the State of Israel was interrogated by the local police, but before he was criminally prosecuted, he returned to Israel.
Upon the client’s return to Israel — due to his legal complications abroad — he lived in fear of leaving Israel’s borders.
The client retained our legal services to find out on his behalf whether he was included in Interpol’s databases, and if there was an international declaration labeling him as a wanted person.
Our legal team submitted a request on behalf of the client to the CCF (i.e., the Interpol Monitoring Committee).
In response, a CCF Secretary notified our law office that our request was found to be admissible; the committee adequately looked into the client’s inquiries and found no information regarding the client in Interpol databases.
After receiving this information, the client was able to leave Israel’s borders without fear.
This response, sent to our law firm by Interpol Commission secretary may be seen below, excluding any identifying details of our client.

Mr. Flanter represented his fellow Prosecutors from the Central District in the National Organization of State Prosecutors, and was appointed member of a special Law Enforcement National Task Force, established to fight property related fraud.
In 1999, Mr. Flanter resigned from the State Prosecution and established an independent Law Firm that practices Criminal & Military Law in Israel, focusing on representing clients who do not have a criminal record.
Mr. Flanter is a certified Advocate in the Israeli Military Courts (2000). He serves as both a Prosecutor and Defense Attorney in disciplinary proceedings held by the Israeli Bar Association.
